Grade
: Items are classed in value according to a graded scale from D to S (in ascending order of value). Items with no grade have the lowest value.
Expertise System
: Adventurers must use items suitable for their skills. Lineage II expresses this through its expertise system.
: "Expertise" skills are passive skills that exist per each item grade. Characters automatically learn expertise skills as they advance in level.
: Using expertise skills, characters can use items below the grade without any penalty. In other words, if you use items for which you do not have the appropriate expertise skill: 1) in the case of weapons, the accuracy rate will drop; 2) in the case of armor, your movement speed and attack speed will be decreased; and 3) in the case of accessories, your movement speed and magic speed will be decreased. If you are penalized, you will see the grade penalty icon in the Abnormality window.
: You can use items with no grade without expertise skills.
Expertise Levels
: At the following levels, you will acquire new expertise:
Expertise D : 20
Expertise C : 40
Expertise B : 52
Expertise A : 61
Expertise S : 76
Expertise S80 : 80
